Rollei Paul and Reinhold 640

Rollei Paul and Reinhold 640 is an ISO 640 panchromatic black-and-white negative film produced to mark Rollei's 100th anniversary. The commemorative package contains two 36-exposure films named after founders Paul Franke and Reinhold Heidecke. Both rolls contain the same emulsion, known for fine grain, natural contrast, high sharpness and wide exposure latitude. ISO 640 sensitivity makes it suitable for varied lighting conditions.

Film Characteristics

Best for
Street photography: ISO 640 sensitivity helps capture quickly changing urban scenes and moving subjects. Wide exposure latitude makes shooting easier in varying light.
Everyday photography: Natural tonal rendition and fine grain make the film suitable for a broad range of everyday subjects and lighting conditions.
People & portraits: Natural contrast and fine grain support detailed portraits. ISO 640 sensitivity can be useful indoors or in changing light.

Look & feel
Natural: Balanced black-and-white tones, natural contrast and fine detail. High resolving power and sharp rendition help preserve subtle textures.

Lighting
Mixed light: ISO 640 sensitivity and wide exposure latitude support shooting in changing outdoor light. With suitable development, the film can also be exposed at ISO settings from 320 to 1600.
Indoors: Higher sensitivity helps make use of available natural or artificial light. With adequate illumination and a fast lens, photographs can be taken without flash.

Grain
Fine: Fine grain supports detailed photographs despite the film's ISO 640 sensitivity. Grain appearance may also depend on the developer and development procedure.

Contrast
Normal: Natural, balanced contrast produces distinguishable highlights and shadows. Wide exposure latitude helps preserve detail under different lighting conditions.
