Revolog Paper B&W 400

Revolog Paper B&W 400 is an ISO 400 black-and-white negative film that adds patterns reminiscent of traditional textured photographic paper to photographs. This special effect is stronger in darker areas and more subdued in brighter parts of the image. Exposure also influences its intensity: underexposure may make the texture more pronounced, while overexposure can make it less visible. It is processed using conventional black-and-white chemistry.

Film Characteristics

Best for
Experimental: Paper-like patterns give photographs a look different from conventional black-and-white films. The effect is especially noticeable in darker parts of the image.
Street: When photographing buildings, urban details and various surfaces, the added texture can complement the composition. The subject's tones and exposure influence the strength of the pattern.

Look & feel
Experimental: The film evokes the look of traditional prints made on textured photographic paper. The pre-applied pattern may appear with different intensity in different parts of the image.

Lighting
Bright daylight: ISO 400 offers flexibility in daylight and moderate lighting. Brighter exposures generally reduce the intensity of the paper-like pattern.
Indoors: The film can also be used indoors with sufficient natural or artificial illumination. Flash or a fast lens may be needed in dimmer light.

Grain
Normal: The film displays moderately visible grain. The paper-like texture is a separate effect, not a result of the size of the emulsion's silver grains.

Contrast
Normal: The base film generally shows balanced tonal differences. The added paper texture can nonetheless become more pronounced in darker areas.
