Fujifilm Neopan Acros 100 II

Fujifilm Neopan Acros 100 II is an ISO 100 orthopanchromatic black-and-white negative film distinguished by exceptionally fine grain, high resolving power and a rich range of grey tones. Its excellent detail rendition makes it suitable for portraits, landscapes and architectural photography. A particularly notable feature is its outstanding performance with long exposures, making it an excellent choice for night photography and tripod-based work.

Film Characteristics

Best for:
People: Exceptionally fine grain and rich midtones render skin, hair and delicate textures in great detail, while tonal transitions remain natural.
Landscape: High resolving power and crisp detail are especially effective for capturing foliage, rocks, architectural elements and other finely textured subjects.
Night: Excellent long-exposure performance allows exposures approaching two minutes without additional exposure compensation when shooting from a tripod. This is especially useful for nighttime cityscapes, astronomical subjects and long-exposure landscapes.

Look & feel:
Natural: Clean black-and-white tones, rich greys and finely separated details produce balanced, lifelike relationships between light and shadow. With appropriate development, well-defined blacks are complemented by detailed midtones.

Lighting:
Bright daylight: Its ISO 100 sensitivity is ideal for photographs taken in sunlight, where its fine grain and high resolving power can be put to particularly good use.
Mixed light: It also works in overcast conditions and lighter shade, although the lower sensitivity requires careful choice of shutter speed and exposure.
Low light & night: Its exceptionally low reciprocity failure helps maintain effective sensitivity during long exposures. It is particularly advantageous for tripod-based night scenes and long-exposure techniques, but ISO 100 limits handheld use in dim light.

Grain:
Fine: Fujifilm’s Super Fine-Σ Grain technology produces extremely small, barely noticeable film grain. Clean, highly detailed negatives provide an excellent foundation for larger enlargements.

Contrast:
Normal: A rich tonal range and well-separated mid-greys accompany distinct black and bright areas. It may produce slightly stronger tonal differences than the original Acros, but development and digitization considerably influence the final contrast.
