CineStill 50D

CineStill 50D is an ISO 50 daylight-balanced color motion picture film based on Kodak Vision3 50D, specially prepared by CineStill for standard C-41 processing. Its exceptionally fine grain, natural colors, and gentle contrast make it an excellent choice for daylight portraits and detailed landscapes. With the remjet layer removed, bright light sources may occasionally produce a reddish halo, adding a distinctive cinematic character.

Film Characteristics

Best for:
People: Natural skin tones and smooth tonal transitions work particularly well for portraits taken in abundant daylight.
Landscape: Exceptionally fine grain and excellent detail rendition help preserve small details in landscapes while maintaining natural colors.

Look & feel:
Natural: Balanced color reproduction and lifelike skin tones give photographs a natural appearance.
Soft: Gentle contrast and smooth tonal transitions create a softer, less harsh photographic look.
Cinematic: Occasional reddish halation around strong light sources and reflective surfaces can give photographs a distinctive cinematic atmosphere.

Lighting:
Bright daylight: Its ISO 50 sensitivity is particularly suited to sunny conditions, making it easier to use wider apertures and create softly blurred backgrounds even in bright environments.

Color balance:
Daylight: Produces its most balanced colors in natural daylight, while warm artificial lighting may introduce yellow-orange color casts.

Grain:
Fine: Exceptionally small grain provides excellent detail rendition, making the film particularly suitable for larger prints and enlargements.

Contrast:
Low: Gentle tonal transitions and restrained contrast help preserve details in both highlights and shadows.

Saturation:
Normal: Produces natural, generally moderately vivid colors, although the final appearance may be more subdued or saturated depending on processing and scanning.
