CDX Kodak Double X 250

CDX Kodak Double X 250 is a black-and-white motion picture film based on Kodak EASTMAN DOUBLE-X 5222, re-spooled by Carmencita Film Lab and rated at ISO 250. Its pronounced contrast and traditional, visible grain give portraits, street scenes, and landscapes a classic monochrome look. It can be developed using standard black-and-white chemistry.

Film Characteristics

Best for:
People: Its rich range of gray tones and distinct rendering of light and shadow can make portraits in natural light particularly expressive.
Street: Well suited to handheld urban photography in daylight, with deep blacks emphasizing the shapes and shadows of city scenes.
Landscape: Good sharpness helps capture details in landscapes, buildings, and clouds, while pronounced tonal separation can make scenes more striking.

Look & feel:
Punchy: Deep blacks and strong separation between light and dark tones can give photographs a bold, graphic appearance.
Cinematic: Traditional grain and distinctive shadow rendering evoke the atmosphere of classic black-and-white motion pictures.

Lighting:
Bright daylight: In sunny conditions, it works well for street scenes and outdoor portraits, allowing faster shutter speeds when light is sufficient.
Indoors: Suitable for well-lit interiors and studio photography. Kodak recommends ISO 200 under tungsten lighting; dimmer conditions may require slower shutter speeds.

Grain:
Normal: Its traditional, clearly visible but generally moderate grain adds distinctive texture without overwhelming fine details.

Contrast:
High: Strong separation between highlights and shadows can produce deep blacks, pronounced shadows, and a bold black-and-white appearance.
