Budachrome Night Shift Vision 3 500T - AHU

Budachrome Night Shift Vision 3 500T – AHU is an ISO 500 tungsten-balanced color motion picture film based on Kodak Vision3 500T. Its gentle contrast, relatively fine grain for a high-speed film, and good detail rendition make it particularly well suited to evening city scenes and indoor photography. The remjet-free AHU version can be developed in both ECN-2 and C-41, although the two processes may produce slightly different colors and contrast.

Film Characteristics

Best for:
Night: Particularly well suited to illuminated streets, neon signs, and evening scenes lit by artificial light.
Street: Its ISO 500 sensitivity makes it suitable for urban photography in changing lighting conditions, especially during the evening.
People: Produces natural skin tones and smooth tonal transitions under tungsten lighting, making it a good choice for indoor and evening portraits.

Look & feel:
Soft: Gentle contrast and smooth tonal transitions give photographs a softer, less harsh appearance.
Cinematic: Its distinctive rendering of artificial light and smooth tones can create a classic motion-picture atmosphere, particularly in night scenes.

Lighting:
Mixed light: ISO 500 provides flexibility in changing light, although light sources with different color temperatures may introduce color casts.
Indoors: Particularly suitable for interiors lit by warm artificial light, where it can produce more natural colors than daylight-balanced films.
Low light & night: When exposed at ISO 500, it works well on illuminated streets, in evening city scenes, and in interiors lit by artificial light.

Color balance:
Tungsten: Designed for warm incandescent lighting, it may produce cooler, bluish tones in daylight without color correction.

Grain:
Fine: Its relatively fine grain for a high-speed film helps preserve image details, although grain may become more noticeable in low light or when underexposed.

Contrast:
Low: Smooth tonal transitions help retain detail in both bright light sources and darker areas of the image.

Saturation:
Normal: Produces natural, moderately saturated colors, while neon signs and colorful artificial lighting may appear more vivid.
